We put the consumer at the center of everything we do and we’re looking for people who do the same.The Role:The Quality Supervisor is responsible for laboratory supervision and compliance to quality requirements in the areas of food safety programs, raw material, in-process quality control, finished product evaluation, internal audits, GMP’s, sanitation, pest control, and all other related quality matters. This role oversees the Quality Management Program at VinFirst, Ontario Estate Wineries and the Distribution Centre. The role requires someone with a keen eye for detail, strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to interpret test results against limits and standards, and the ability to lead a small team.Responsibilities include:Supervise laboratory operations and QA team, managing workload, manpower, task delegation and validationCoordinator for HACCP Program ensuring food safety programs are developed, implemented, maintained, and followedLead internal audits in accordance with quality, HACCP and ISO and Organic standardsDevelop and maintain site standard operating procedures, work instructions, form controlled documentation and training records for all departments – QA, shipping/receiving, operations, maintenance.Provide production floor coverage for QA absences, including package integrity testing, line checks, sample gathering and sorting, bulk liquid receiving, bulk liquid analysis and equipment calibration and maintenance.Lead customer complaint, nonconformance and food safety assessment investigations and corrective actionsCommunicate with external customers for reporting, complaints, product deliveries and general QA inquiriesWork environment:Working in a laboratory and production environmentMultitasking & attention to detail in a fast-paced environmentMay require physical effort which entails lifting and moving up to 50 lbsUnderstanding delivery of accurate result as it relates to quantity vs qualitySome tasks involve being in a noisy production environment5 days a week, on-siteWhat you’ll bring:Post secondary education in Chemical engineering, chemical technologist/technician, or related disciplines with detailed knowledge of common laboratory practices and procedures 3-5 years experience in a high-volume routine laboratory testing environment1-2 years supervisory experienceGood to excellent knowledge of GMP, HACCP/FSSC2200, Food Safety PracticesExperience with ISO 9001 and Organic CertificationExperience with continuous improvement tools (KPIs, Kaizen, lean manufacturing & problem solving)Demonstrated leadership and collaborative teamwork with the ability to influence othersExperience in production environment, food/beverage or consumer packaging industry preferredAuditing experience – HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001, Organic CertificationSelf starter, and ability to work independently on multiple tasksDemonstrate effective communication, written and verbalComputer proficiency with Microsoft applications, statistical softwareCompensation: Budgeted Range – ($65,000 - $85,000) The budgeted range takes into account several factors and qualifications that are considered in making compensation decisions including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements. Base pay is only one component of the total rewards offering at Arterra.The budgeted range will align with qualifications, including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements.
