JOB SUMMARY

The role of our Kinesiologists is to support our physiotherapy staff through exercise demonstration & supervision; assistance with treatment modalities; and maintenance of clinic flow. Our Kinesiology team is integral to the daily operation of our clinics, in addition to assisting the Physiotherapists, they also support and assist the Kinesiologist Coordinator in the daily activities, maintenance and upkeep of the clinic space. This position requires you to explain, demonstrate, and supervise proper exercise technique.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree or Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from a recognized University.
  • Practicum experience or 1+ years’ experience working in a clinical setting.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a training environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Care_
  • Responsible for coordinating and monitoring flow of patients through treatment space.
  • Communicate the arrival of patients to the appropriate treating professional (Physiotherapists, Strength & Conditioning, Massage).
  • Demonstrate, instruct and supervise patients on exercise prescriptions provided by the treating Physiotherapist or in the patient chart.
  • Collaborate with the Physiotherapist on exercise recommendations & progressions
  • Perform client checks to ensure comfort and undertake any necessary action during treatment.
  • Clinic Maintenance _
  • Responsible for cleaning and set-up of patient rooms prior to patient use.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment, hydroculators, contrast tubs, gym equipment, hand exercise tools, as per Alberta Health Services standards.
  • Monitor flow of laundry and ensure adequate linens are available for use at all times.
  • Ensure cleanliness of overall clinic space; including tidying equipment, dusting, vacuuming, wiping equipment as needed
  • Responsible for keeping patient care materials stocked and ready for use (cutting tape, photocopying AP and x-ray consent forms, restocking AP cart); including monitoring clinic supply inventory sheets
  • Assist front desk with required duties including answering phone calls, faxing, shredding, organizing patient files, putting away supplies and attending to patient concerns.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Communication (oral & written) :explaining exercises clearly, actively listening to patient feedback, writing detailed chart notes
  • Adaptability :ability to adjust to a fast paced environment and work with multiple patients at a time
  • Anatomy & Exercise Knowledge :use in depth knowledge of human anatomy and functional fitness while supporting patients and collaborating with other practitioners
