Developmental Support Worker

Oakdale Child and Family Services is currently hiring for a Child Youth Worker (CYW) and Developmental Service Worker (DSW) for our clients (Ages 12-35) located in Barrie, Ontario for various Shifts, both Full-Time and Part-Time.

  • Provide one on one and group support to clients through daily living support, day program participation, and community involvement.
  • Provide support to youth/adults with various diagnosis from Autism, Developmental Delay, FASD etc
  • Assist clients with personal care; these care services include, but are not limited to, bathing assistance, feeding, grooming, continence care, etc.
  • Support clients in their daily living activities such as, but not limited to, meal preparation, walking (in the community), recreational activities, relationship building techniques, behavioural support etc.
  • Demonstrate interest in each individual and reinforce positive behaviour in order to build relationships with clients and their families.
  • Provide conflict resolution, and problem-solving supports to clients.
  • Encourage participation in activity programs
  • Utilize Crisis Prevention & Intervention practices to de-escalate and stabilize a client when in a state of crisis and/or presenting with high-risk behaviours.
  • Ensure administrative duties are completed within required timeframes.
  • Participate in development/presenting of clients Plan Of Care or Individual Support Plan when required.
  • Book/Attend all required Doctor/Medical appointments.
  • Report to House Supervisor/ Management.

Qualifications: *College Degree in related field OR currently attending

*Valid G Drivers licence and access to reliable vehicle (not required but preferred)

*Fully vaccinated (not required but preferred)

*First Aid and CPR Level C required

*VSS (current or within the last 6 months)

*Medical required upon 30 days of hire.

*Availability to work various shifts

Job Types : Full-time, Part-time Part-time hours: 40 per week

Salary : $16.40-$22.60 per hour
