Project Manager

Key Responsibilities :

  • Operations Duties _
  • Visits job sites on a weekly basis to oversee job progress and to resolve any scheduling conflicts or issues
  • Inspects contractor's quality of work, schedule, and safety practices on a regular basis
  • Manages sub-contractors' issues in collaboration with the Site Supervisor & Working Foremen
  • Resolves any issues, concerns, or conflicts with employees as necessary to ensure optimum employee relations
  • Customer Relations/Account Development Duties _
  • Establishes relationships with potential customers and ensures timely follow-up to secure work
  • Meets with customers and potential prospects to promote good relations and to promote possible future contracts
  • Advises the Administrative Manager, during credit and history checks processes
  • Reviews current workload to determine if scheduling of potential project is a fit
  • Estimating Duties _
  • Attends select pre-bid meetings and or post tender meetings; reviews bidding documents
  • Completes site visits to determine the scope of work that will be required for the bidding process and analyzes risk factors
  • Gathers material quotes required for sub-contractor quotes and future job requirements
  • Initiates and reviews quotations from subs, suppliers, and rental companies as deemed necessary for costing details to prepare new tender
  • Prepares the tender for clients in the local area by assessing political implications and ensures company profitability margins are maintained
  • Prepares and arranges sub-contractor agreements

Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education and/or certification in Engineering, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering Technician
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy civil and estimating with previous on-site field experience in road construction, sewer, and water main construction
  • A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act & prescribed regulations
  • An advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft Office/Project, Outlook, and Harddollar estimation software
  • Advanced knowledge of reading blueprints and construction drawings
  • Must have a valid Ontario driver's license and a Clean Abstract
