Position: Technician- Laboratory Location: Guleph, ON Are you an experienced Laboratory Technician with a knack for managing or performing work in some or all of the following areas; laboratory maintenance and administration, 5S, inventory management, assisting Lab Analysts in performing supplemental tasks, ensuring efficient day-to-day laboratory operations as directed by Operations Managers and Senior Analysts. Excellent employee culture Excellent opportunity for problem-solvers Responsibilities Required Experience, any deal breakersKnowledge/Experience • Prior working experience in a laboratory environment is an asset (>3 years preferred) • Experience with 5S/ lean management systems is required • Knowledge of ISO17025 is an asset Industry Experience (software / websites) Must have and good to have. • Demonstrated experience and skill with MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook priority) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). What is your understanding of ISO17025? -ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories is the main standard used by testing and calibration laboratories. In most countries, ISO/IEC 17025 is the standard for which most labs must hold accreditation in order to be deemed technically competent. What is you understanding of 5S? -The 5S pillars, Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain, providing a methodology for organizing, cleaning, developing, and sustaining a productive work environment. Qualifications Education, Licenses, Cert RequirementsMinimum Qualifications • Diploma in chemistry or natural or food sciences • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Required Skills (include soft skills)• Demonstrated experience and skill with MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook priority) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). • Excellent organizational skills to adapt to fluctuating workloads while maintaining appropriate attention to detail. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
