Our client is a leader in the direct-to-consumer reverse logistics industry, having proudly served many Fortune 500 retailers and consumer product companies. We are looking to hire a Health and Safety Advisor to join their growing team of 500+ employees, spread across office, warehouse, and retail locations in Ontario and Alberta. This role is on-site at our client's Brantford office location.Job Summary:The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading Health and Safety programs to ensure our employees at the retail, warehouse, and corporate levels have a safe working environment. This role will be the first point of contact for safety-related concerns, and is crucial in ensuring that the company remains compliant with all local health and safety legislations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in this role and will be confident in navigating Health and Safety programs, WSIB, and training.Responsibilities:Program and Policy Development:Design, implement, and revise comprehensive and mandatory health and safety policies, programs, and training.Ensure 100% compliance on training and understanding of policies.Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal health and safety regulations.Regularly review and audit health and safety programs to align with industry standards.Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.Deliver training as needed.Incident Reporting and Investigations:Conduct regular risk audits, assessing potential risks at the retail, warehouse, and corporate locations.Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses.Compile detailed reports and create recommendations on how to improve the safety of our work environment.Manage WSIB and other safety boards.Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and training activities.Provide support and guidance to managers and employees during investigations and emergency situations, developing and maintain response plans.Regulatory Compliance:Stay updated on changes in legislation and industry standardsRegularly review policies and programs to ensure compliance.Regularly update training.Chair the Joint H&S Committee, scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, and creating the agenda.Foster a Health and Safety Culture:Foster a culture of safety awareness by engaging with employees at all levels.Ensure all staff are trained in emergency response procedures, and ensure all locations are set up with a first aid station and evacuation instructions.Maintain training records and ensure compliance.Act as a resource and first point of contact for employees.Collaborate with store managers as needed.Recommend and implement new tools, technologies, and processes to improve safety performance.Other:Other duties as assigned by leadershipProvide support across the HR department as needed.Candidate Qualifications:Education:A degree or diploma in HR, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.Professional HR designation (CHRP) is an asset.Certificate in OH&S is an asset.Experience:3+ years experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the retail or logistics industry.Program design and delivery experience is an asset.Knowledge:Experience with learning management systems.Knowledge of Canadian and provincial legislation and employment standards.Abilities:Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and care.Ability to work efficiently in high pressure situations.Ability to work through a problem with limited information and to take a program or situation to the next steps.Personal Suitability:Self-motivated.Excellent attention to detail and ability to make professional company resources (i.e. documents, presentations, reports, etc).This role requires interaction with employees at various levels of our organization and must provide exceptional and professional communication at all times.At Humani, we are in the business of helping our clients build incredible workplaces, so it is important that we do the same.
