To enable the Gates Canada, Brantford Warehouse meet its business plan objectives through the effective utilization and management of the Warehouse ensuring the enforcement of regulations and motivation of personnel to increase productivity by recommending changes to existing policies and procedures and justification of any expenditures. Ensure that orders are accurate and shipped to customers on time, via proper carrier and error free.

Scope of Role

Reports to the Distribution Centre Manager

Directs four (4) salaried positions - Warehouse Supervisor, Pick-Planner/ Receiving Processing Clerk and two (2) Cycle Counters.

WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Ensure best picking methods on a monthly basis, inventory accuracy maintained at an acceptable level and address all safety concerns on a daily basis.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Support team building methods and Certification programs.

Review out purchased products used in the DC for packaging, labeling etc. to ensure that we are getting the best pricing, resourcing new suppliers as required and renegotiate as necessary. Create IPP’s for new equipment as required. Review and negotiate cleaning contract as well as material contracts for both buildings.

CUSTOMER/CLIENT/ASSOCIATE SATISFACTION

Ensure that orders are shipped within established guidelines of the Company on a daily basis and that product is shipped through the guidelines of the Traffic Department.

COMMUNICATIONS

On an ongoing basis, inform the Manager of Distribution on the status of the warehouse. (Re: Orders, backorders, employee problems, etc.

Resolve any labour relation problems and try to prevent problems working collectively with Union.

Communicate to Employees and the Warehouse supervisor of company objectives and ensure that company goals are met in a timely manner.

MANAGERIAL SUPERVISORY

Timely preparation of performance management from employee goal creation, mid-year reviews and year end appraisals, motivate warehouse employees to work as a team, to increase productivity and reduce expenses. Assist in the Union Negotiation every 3 years and provide the necessary support to the negotiation team prior, during and after the negotiations.

TRAINING

Maintain a minimum level of shipment errors.

Motivate all warehouse personnel to increase productivity and reduce expenses.

Education and Experience

College or University Degree in a warehousing and/or shipping and inventory environment

5 Years of direct supervisory experience

Required Skills : Planning and Demand Management knowledge

Purchasing and suppliers developments knowledge with above average ability to negotiate

Distribution and logistics knowledge

People management and Leadership skills

Strong communication skills at all levels within Gates and external customers and suppliers

Teambuilding/Empowerment of people

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires travel.

Working Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the facility is clean and safe. While in Manufacturing Plants or Distribution Centers, the environment in some areas could require safety PPE to include hearing protection, steel toed shoes, and safety glasses.

Salary : $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
