Essential Job Functions :

  • Ensure plant compliance with current OHSA and other and local agency laws and regulations as they pertain to safety issues.
  • Risk assessment activity - Strong focus on Ergonomic risk mitigation.
  • Preparation & support of Ergonomic assessments (such as PDAs), Coordinate with Ergonomic consultants & conduct job rotation analysis and recommendations.
  • Analyze trends in Ergo-related safety incidents and develop specific countermeasures with applicable stakeholders.
  • Assist all members of management in appropriate loss control and accident prevention measures to comply with TBCA plant mission and objectives.
  • Assist Human Resources with WSIB Claims Management & Investigation.
  • Support WSIB Return to Work Program.
  • Act as TBCA MLTSD liaison when required in relation to Ergonomic concerns.
  • Support compliance to "21 Safety Programs" and other corporate requirements.
  • Regulatory compliance with industrial hygiene (i.e. Air & noise monitoring).
  • Support TBCA chemical management procedure (i.e. WHMIS, hazardous substances, etc.).
  • Support Environmental/Carbon Neutral Specialist with related activities.
  • Support H&S Manager with Safety Improvement Planning & Steering Committee.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and management of safety policies, programs, and procedures that will reduce frequency and severity of workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Host Plant Safety "4 Pillar Meetings" - tracking and resolution of safety incidents using effective problem solving, preventative safety activity, and reducing the cost of safety related incidents.
  • Develop and deliver training and coaching for team members, contractors, and others on health and safety to ensure skills competence, understanding of policies and procedures, and to maintain compliance with corporate, federal, provincial, and local regulations, directives, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Schedule and coordinate exterior training seminars for team members.
  • Coordinate and support JHSC activity.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of plant equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly and monthly health and safety metrics reporting to onsite management teams and corporate based safety KPI reporting systems.
  • New hire safety orientation.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Post-Secondary education in disciplines such as Occupational Health & Safety, Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Human Factors, Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • AE, CRST, CRSP or other health & safety related professional designations/certifications are considered an asset.
  • JHSC Level 2 Certified. JHSC Committee experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment, automotive would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • 1 - 2 years of relevant Health & Safety experience with a strong emphasis on evaluating ergonomics & human factors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently, and prioritize multiple tasks within deadlines.
  • Ability to work in Woodstock location based on business needs, must be willing and able to travel outside of Canada if required.
