Allarta Life Science is a pre-clinical life science company based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, developing next generation biomaterials for immune-privileged delivery of cells, stem cells and biologics. We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of surgeries and procedures on small and large animals in accordance with approved Animal Utilization Protocols. 
  • Conduct regular blood glucose measurements on a variety of animals. 
  • Be available for emergency situations, including animal euthanasia, as needed.
  • Conduct post-mortem tissue sampling or examinations as required. 
  • Provide support to team members during procedures. 
  • Take notes and maintain detailed records of surgical procedures and follow up care. 
  • Perform regular wellness checks on animals, ensuring their health and wellbeing. 
  • Manage room bookings and order supplies as necessary. 
  • Record, analyze, and interpret data, communicating findings to management and team members on a regular basis.
  • Actively participate in team meetings. 
  • Assist with inventory management of animals, including ordering and receiving.
  • Coordinate with laboratory team members in lab to ensure proper inventory and transport of supplies between the laboratory and the animal facility. 
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to ensure the well-being and care of our animals.

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician. 
  • Previous experience in a preclinical research setting, or working with rodents, is an asset. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently without supervision, and as part of a team.
