Our client is a prominent Construction Services Company focused on Food Processing | Cold Storage | Agri-Food. They are searching for an Architectural Technologist to join their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Under the supervision of the Senior Architectural Technologist, the Architectural Technologist undertakes the creation of designs and drawings for diverse construction endeavors. Their role involves aiding the Project Team and facilitating communication with external engineering firms, consultants, and essential trade contractors as needed. Responsibilities: Supports the Senior Architectural Technologist in the design and implementation of processes and procedures to enhance the department’s workflow. Generates technical designs, construction drawings, architectural schematics, and associated documentation as delegated. Supports the project team in project design and administrative tasks. Conducts thorough analyses of building codes, bylaws, spatial requirements, site conditions, and other technical documents to inform design plans. Produces manual, CAD, and 3D drawings, along with specifications and material quantity assessments based on conceptual directives. Assists the Project Management Team in preparing contracts and bidding documents upon request. Performs site visits when necessary, gathering essential field measurements and information. Reviews and compares the latest construction drawings across various disciplines to identify design conflicts. Maintains accurate and current shop drawings, updates drawing logs, and compiles and organizes as-built documents. Attends meetings with project managers, clients, trades, and other key stakeholders as needed. Requirements: As the ideal candidate, you have successfully completed a diploma program in Architectural Technology or a related construction-focused diploma from an accredited institution and are registered or eligible for registration as an engineering technology professional with a recognized Provincial association, such as Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Certified Technician (C. Tech), or Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T). You have high proficiency in various computer-aided design software, including AutoCAD and Revit, and possess a strong grasp of construction methodologies and project delivery procedures. Preference will be given to those familiar with construction-centric project management tools like Procore, and a foundational understanding of the National Building Code of Canada is advantageous. Moreover, competence in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential for effective performance in this role.
