PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Supervisor will ensure that workers in our facilities' hazardous areas are provided with the necessary service and equipment for maintaining a safe work environment.They will also be accountable for ensuring all workers have the training to perform their duties safely and effectively.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and maintain H&S-related documentation, including JHSC minutes, training records, and incident reports.
  • Prepare and distribute H&S-related documentation in multiple formats to site management.
  • Collect H&S data and maintain a database for the site.
  • Attend and monitor the site's joint health & safety committee meetings.
  • Support the various H&S audit and inspection processes at the site.
  • Conduct H&S audits.
  • Investigate incidents and produce incident reports.
  • Manage the return-to-work program and WSIB claims management.
  • Coordinate and support the site in the sourcing and supply of H&S-related products and services.
  • Record and maintain meeting minutes of site team meetings about H&S.
  • Conduct health and safety training.
  • Conduct hazard assessments through task analysis, physical demands analysis, risk assessments and workplace inspections, recommending and implementing corrective action.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining instructional documents, such as safe operating procedures, work procedures and training records.
  • Instruct and evaluate workers in the safe operation of material handling equipment, including using fall protections.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum five years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Health and Safety or a related field
  • Strong understanding of pertinent health and safety laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with the terms and policies
  • Federal and municipal laws/Regulations
  • NCSO Certification required
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence strategy and collaborate with company leadership.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking, working under pressure and handling time constraints.
  • Familiarity with project management and budgeting
  • First aid, CPR, and any other relevant medical training
  • Capacity to protect the confidentiality of information and records.
  • Willingness to actively participate in ongoing professional growth while employed.
  • Valid G license, insurable and reliable transportation

Salary : From $35.00 per hour
