Job Summary : Prepares and sets tables, drinks, and dessert for Residents while ensuring that Dietary Service Department standards are met.

  • Meets provincial standards for safe food handling, food preparation, food service and sanitation.
  • Prepares nourishments and refreshments on a daily basis.
  • Takes action and reports issues to the Dietary Manager in a timely manner.
  • Meets daily time constraints for the role overall.

Responsible to : Dietary Manager

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of food for Residents and guests.
  • Reviews menus and production sheets before preparing meals, prepares and serves them properly and attractively.
  • Ensures use of proper food handling techniques.
  • Performs daily responsibilities using Infection control practices.
  • Prepares and serves foods for therapeutic diets according to planned menus.
  • Serves meals, following Resident’s diet and food preferences using proper portion sizes.
  • Washes dishes, cups and cutlery between meal services.
  • Meets time schedule for service of meals and nourishments.
  • Dates, labels, and stores food properly
  • Assists in receiving and storing incoming food and supplies.
  • Monitors quality of food supplies received and informs Dietary Manager of any related issues.
  • Reports food, supply, and equipment needs to DCS.
  • Keeps work area clean and uncluttered, and completes scheduled cleaning duties.
  • Alerts Dietary Manager to problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.

QUALIFICATIONS : Formal :

  • Preferred: Public Health Unit Food Handlers Training Course.
  • Preferred: Previous Dietary Aide experience.

Job Type : Part-time

$19.24 per hour

Schedule:

  • Shifts of 5- 8 hours in length with 24 hours guaranteed in a bi-weekly period.

Salary : From $19.24 - 20.70 per hour
