Legal Director

TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Director to join our client’s team.We are looking for an experienced legal professional with experience in managing construction claims and strong expertise in litigation to join one of the leading construction companies in Canada.In this role, you will be managing the legal team for a Multi-Billion-Dollar infrastructure project and later on, roll up to corporate level upon project completion.Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead the Legal team on projects, focusing on continuous disclosure, financing, corporate transactions, and compliance.Offer expert and strategic legal counsel on a wide range of claims issues and develop proactive solutions to mitigate risks in strategic business decisions.Collaborate with business leaders on project approval policies and procedures, and coordinate with business unit leaders and management teams on corporate approval policies.Serve as a strategic advisor to the Commercial Director and support the senior management team with legal insights and guidance.Oversee and manage external legal counsel as required, and draft agreements to minimize risks and protect legal rights.Implement, oversee, and monitor compliance with policies and procedures, and develop a suite of corporate contract templates for organizational use.RequirementsMinimum 5 years of post-call legal experience.Be an active member of the Law Society in the practicing jurisdiction.Experience in large scale civil construction projects is a strong asset.Strong understanding of Canadian law and issues related to public company legal and governance.Proven track record in managing disputes from initiation to resolution, including mediation, litigation, arbitration, and adjudication.Construction claims experience is a must.Strong expertise in litigation management.Experience in procurement for PPP and EPC projects within civil and industrial infrastructure is highly preferred.To apply for this position, please send your Word formatted resume to Ziyi.Chen@trsstaffing.comWe thank all applicants for their interest.
