Job Summary

Payroll Specialist is the focal point of communication for the human resources team, with efficiency being the key goal at all times. Human Resources professional must perform a range of duties supporting divisional managers and HR staff. The duties consist of bi-weekly payroll, safety, policies, training, labor relations, relocation, diversity, education, recruiting, regulatory compliance for each province in Canada and other HR programs. Provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations.

  • Payroll Specialist reports to the Manager - Human Resources

Job Duties

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for over 250 employees located in AB, BC, ON, and QC, including salaried and hourly staff
  • Enter, review, and approve bi-weekly payroll using ADP payroll processing software; facilitate timesheet communication with branch managers; produce semi-monthly payroll reports for upper management
  • Generate T4, T4A, and RL-1 slips; prepare annual returns and filings to third parties.
  • Handle year-end tasks by reviewing reports to ensure the accuracy of payroll data
  • Manage salary structures and maintain position documentation and evaluation systems
  • Administer and educate employees of benefits and maintain a sustainable relationship with insurance providers
  • Communicate to internal stakeholders in Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations
  • Recommend, develop and maintain human resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems
  • Assist headquarters HR administrators in providing various employee/HR-related information

Requirements :

  • Ability to speak/write fluently in both English and Korean is an asset
  • Bachelor/College degree in Human Resources/Business Management/Employment Relations/Payroll required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing the full payroll cycle using ADP is preferred
  • Ideally working towards PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) certifications
  • Work experience or education in employment law or other area of regulations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws and policies
