Applications are invited for the position of Administrative Assistant, Associate Dean in the School of Justice and Fitness, located at the Welland Campus. The starting hourly rate is $27.81/hr (Pay Band E - $27.81/hr to $32.24/hr) for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

The Administrative Assistant, Associate Dean is typically responsible for responding to or re-directing all program related enquiries such as student complaints, issues, program related forms and information. The incumbent works independently and must exercise initiative and good judgement, sensitivity and confidentiality in dealing with college staff, students, the general public and industry representatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Dean by making recommendations and resolving routine inquiries/concerns from students, faculty, administrative staff and public
  • Maintains record keeping and monitoring of purchase requisitions; generates requisitions for purchases for the office or such other budget centres as assigned
  • Support the Associated Dean in inputting and organizing work assignment, scheduling requirements and related reports
  • Provide assistance to the Associated Dean in operational Human Resource functions
  • Provides administrative support to designated school by: organizing, maintaining and updating files electronically and on shared drives for the purpose of providing support materials
  • Oversees office supplies and office equipment appropriately
  • Works closely with the Associate Dean to organize and prepare for regular curriculum committee meetings

Qualifications :

  • Two (2) year diploma in Office Administration or Business Administration or similar field of study
  • Three (3) years of practical office experience in office administration in an educational, government or large business environment
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
