Position Title :Events Coordinator, Lakeshore Campus

Status :Regular Part-Time Support

Hours :24 hours/week

Faculty/Department : Principal’s Office, Lakeshore

Campus/Location : Lakeshore Campus

Salary :$25.24 per hour

What you will do : Reporting to the Manager, International and Strategic Initiatives, Lakeshore Campus, the Lakeshore Campus Event Coordinator is responsible for organizing and leading the planning, promotions and implementation of events specifically related to the Lakeshore Campus including support for the Centre of Social Innovation events. Events, both in person and virtual, include, but are not limited to, community events and celebrations, scholarship fund-raisers, book launches, and campus events including, but not limited to Earth Week, Orientation, Remembrance Day and the Humber Staff and Children's Holiday Party. The incumbent is required to identify partnerships and develop events aligned with Humber’s Strategic Plan while promoting Humber’s core values of Courage, Innovation, Equity, Health & Wellbeing, and Sustainability. This role is responsible for coordinating and coaching student volunteers on days leading up to and on events. Experience planning large scale events, both in-person and virtual, is required.

The incumbent is required to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with various service departments in the delivery of events. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining an annual event budget and will work with the Manager, International and Strategic Initiatives, Lakeshore Campus and the Associate Director of Operations to ensure that the Principal’s Office event budget is developed in conjunction with the College’s budget development period. An organized, relationship builder with the ability to manage multiple projects and work productively under pressure with firm deadlines is required within the role.

The incumbent is responsible for supporting the Principal’s Office social media channels including the development of social media campaigns such as Orientation give-away and daily posts with an intention to inform and grow followers.

  • Preparation and coordination of (virtual and online) event logistics and documentation including site inspections, production schedules and production strategies for specific events (examples include case competitions, Paralegal Mooting Cup, Blood Donor Clinic)
  • Ability to assign and prioritize tasks for multiple events running simultaneously
  • The incumbent will be required to make complex independent judgements in relation to effective events planning including working with vendors, events day timelines/critical paths, and responding to event inquiries.

What you bring to the role : Education

Experience and Skills

Experience organizing large scale events is required

Minimum 2 years of experience, in a university/college setting an asset

The incumbent must have superior customer service skills, the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships, strong sense of judgement, impeccable problem-solving skills, and independent decision-making capacity. The incumbent must be able to respond to shifting priorities as they emerge and demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions. The role requires strong presentation skills, and the ability to deliver information to diverse audiences. Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and Outlook), and experience with customized databases is necessary. The incumbent will frequently work with College IT systems such as Banner. The role requires knowledge of creating and maintaining event (or other small-scale) annual budgets, as well as the ability to create summary reports for FSCS management (financial or otherwise)
