Field Service Technician III

FORTNA Canada is looking for a dedicated Field Service Technician to join our team you will have strong mechanical, trouble shooting, problem solving and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Conveyor maintenance and repair skills are preferred.

The Field Service Technician will be responsible for supporting the project and commissioning team in the following areas:

  • Service Calls
  • Installation
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Repairs
  • Troubleshooting

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Will work efficiently under the guidance of the Field Support Supervisor for the following tasks:

  • Understanding of mechanical / electrical drawings for industrial control systems. Repairs and maintains in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manual, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery, and mechanical equipment, such as engines, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production equipment, using hand tools, power tools, end precision-measuring and testing instruments
  • Demonstrate the skill set required for millwrights
  • Adept mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group
  • Readily available to go onsite for technical emergencies/ customer support at any time
  • Demonstrate the skill set required for mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Certification in various welding techniques (stick, MiG, and TIG welding) is a plus
  • Installs, calibrates, maintains, and repairs equipment
  • Responds to calls for emergency repairs
  • Performs work under mínimal supervision
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Uses manufacturers' service manuals and documentation to provide initial troubleshooting and/or repairs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses a technical degree or 4-6 years equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Possesses a technical certification in related fields or 4-6 years equivalent work experience in a skilled trade.
  • Possess the training and experience to execute all phases of conveyor repair and system installation within the material handling industry
  • Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Read and interpret equipment manifests, BOM’s, and mechanical / electrical drawings
  • Logically diagnose and determine if a problem is electrical or mechanical in nature and formulate a plan of action.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Communicate with individuals under duress in a calm and professional manner
  • Have excellent customer service / interpersonal skills and possess a logical problem-solving mindset.
  • Individual must be self-motivated, detailed oriented and results focused
  • Oral and written communication competencies.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Clean driving record
  • Leadership skills

TRAVEL: Generally, this position requires up to 75% travel to various FORTNA Canada and may include overnight stays. Typically, travel is within the Greater Toronto Area but occasionally may require some International travel.

Pay: $35.00-$60.00 per hour
